The Formation of Themed Actives

The first step in teaching with the scaffolding method is to determine a theme. The theme is determined based on our children’s interests and it is the frames in which activities are organized. Multiple activities are preselected to cover all of the Child Development Areas.

  • Group Discussions

Before deciding on any themed activities, our teachers and students will carry out a comprehensive brainstorming session. During this meeting, the teachers will get a clear picture on the children’s interpretation of a topic, and formulate a plan to deepen their knowledge.

Group discussions not only allow our children to express their opinion, but it also lets our teachers constantly adjust their teaching strategy to fit on the group’s level of understanding.

  • Themed Activities

After the group discussion, the teacher will organized the themed activities based on the group’s collective interests. Using the “learn by playing, and study by doing” principle, the children will be given total freedom to explore.

During this exercise, the teacher will play a subsidiary role — only interfering when someone has difficulty getting pass an obstacle. He/She will provide hints and spiritual support, allowing the children to achieve their full potential.

  • Themed Environment

Making sure the activities and the surrounding work hand and hand with each other is the basis of a strong teaching program. We want our children to actively participate in creating a rich and decorative environment for their education.

The works of our children can be seen throughout the school, especially in the classrooms and in the hallways. This colorful space represents their courage and creativity. It is their interpretation of what the world should look like.
